PUPR Minister Ready to Execute Jokowi's Order, Build Earthquake Resistant Houses for Cianjur Earthquake Victims

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono, plans to build new earthquake-resistant houses for victims whose houses were heavily damaged, collapsed, or had to be relocated due to the earthquake in Cianjur.

"If it is built anew, it must comply with earthquake-resistant standards from the Ministry of PUPR. That's the president's order", said Minister Basuki in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 23, as reported by Antara.

The construction of new houses is intended for earthquake victims whose houses were heavily damaged, collapsed, or had to be relocated. Meanwhile, earthquake victims whose houses suffered light and moderate damage will receive compensation of IDR 50 million, which is a stimulant from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).

"So the SOP is like that, if the house is only cracked, it can be repaired by yourself, it is given a stimulant which is the task of BNPB. But if it collapses, such as residents' houses, offices, mosques, Kodim offices, bridges, it is the job of the PUPR Ministry to repair them", said Basuki Hadimuljono.

The Minister has also ordered the Director General of Housing at the PUPR Ministry to verify the houses of the Cianjur earthquake victims. Meanwhile, new houses for victims of the Cianjur earthquake will be built using earthquake-resistant technology, Simple Healthy Instant Houses (RISHA).

RISHA technology is the embodiment of a home with a modular design, a concept that divides the system into small parts (modules) of efficient size so that they can be assembled into a large number of different products.

The design of the house with this modular system can be changed or developed according to the wishes or needs of the occupants. In addition, the construction of houses with RISHA technology is very fast.

"We have RISHA, so for example, if there are earthquake-resistant houses like this, we will use them. I have asked the Director General of Housing, and he is already in stock, he has made the house modules first, so now it's just a matter of transporting it, depending on the local government because the local government must prepare the land, later we will do land clearing and we will build it", said Basuki Hadimuljono.
