JAKARTA - President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday Turkey would attack insurgents with tanks and soldiers as soon as possible, after retaliatory attacks increased along the Syrian border between Turkish troops and Kurdish militias.

"We have pressured terrorists for several days on our planes, cannons and weapons," President Erdogan said in a speech.

"God willing, we will eradicate them as quickly as possible, together with our tanks, our soldiers," said President Erdogan.

He further explained that Turkey gave an answer to Istanbul's recent terror attacks, by destroying targets of terrorist organizations in northern Iraq and Syria.

"We provide our answer to the heinous attack that claimed the lives of six innocent people, by bringing down terrorist targets in northern Iraq and Syria," President Erdogan said at the opening ceremony in Artvin Province, citing Daily Sabah.

He said Turkey would 'immediately' launch land operations in Syria against the YPG, which is a Syrian branch of the PKK terrorist group, following airstrikes.

"We know the identity, location, and track record of terrorists. We also know very well who silences, arms and encourages terrorists," said President Erdogan.

He explained that Turkey had done its part by respecting any agreement on the security of its border with Syria.

"Hopefully we will eradicate all terrorists as quickly as possible," President Erdogan prayed.

Earlier, President Erdogan on Monday signaled land operations in northern Iraq and northern Syria, to eliminate terrorist threats, adding that Turkey would not remain silent against terrorism.
