Three Lampung JI Network Terrorists Arrested, 825 Bullets Become Evidence

JAKARTA - The National Police arrested three terrorists from the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network in the Lampung region. During the arrest, several firearms (senpi) up to hundreds of ammunition were used as evidence.

"Three people with the initials TY, AB, JD, are related to criminal acts of terrorism in the Lampung area," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, to reporters, Friday, November 18.

The three were arrested in three days or to be precise from November 9 to 11.

From the results of the examination, they have different roles in the terrorism network. The suspect TY is the coordinator of Jamaah Islamiyah in the Lampung region.

Then, he entered the structure of the West Qodimah Hikmat Jamaah Islamiyah. In fact, he served as Deputy Chair of the Lampung Islamic Boarding School Communication Forum (FKPP) for the 2015-2020 period.

"The role of TY is to have one homemade firearm and 430 rounds of ammunition from suspect JD," said Ramadhan.

For suspect AB, he is said to have played a role in replacing YT as the coordinator of Jamaah Islamiyah Lampung. He also received a PCP Weapon Training (wind rifle) in Lampung.

"AB is also the one holding a meeting in Bandar Lampung discussing fundraising in Lampung for global jihad in Syria," he said.

Meanwhile, the suspect JD is a member of the Halaqoh congregation assisted by the fourth batch of suspects TY from 2018 to 2020. In fact, he had 520 rounds of ammunition and played a role in selling one homemade firearm and 430 ammunition to TY.

"JD also has one long-barreled homemade firearm and one modified air rifle," said Ramadhan.

During the arrest, a number of evidences were confiscated from the suspects. For example, one large PCP rifle along with 105 rounds of ammunition, one homemade revolver, 4 long-barreled firearms, 3 magazines, and ammunition totaling 825 pills consisting of various calibers.

Then, there are also 10 books and 2 CDs related to the journey of the jihad movement

In this case, they were charged with Article 17 in conjunction with Article 7 and Article 15 in conjunction with Article 9 of Law Number 5 of 2018 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Terrorism.
