8,034 People In Riau With HIV/AIDS, Housewife Places The Third Largest Position

RIAU - Data from the Riau Provincial Health Office until October 2022 stated that 8,034 people had HIV / AIDS (ODHA). A total of 3,711 of them are already in the AIDS stage. "The discovery of HIV/AIDs cases in Riau Province is 8,034 people or equivalent to 69.2 percent of the 11,596 targets set for the national sector," said Deputy Governor of Riau (Wagubri), Edy Natar Nasution on the sidelines of the Regional Coordination Meeting, Commission Penanggulangan AIDS (KPA) Riau Province, Pekanbaru City, Antara, Thursday, November 17. The characteristics of finding HIV and AIDS cases in Riau Province are already leading to the general population, with the largest number in Pekanbaru City with 4,730 cases. "The findings of cases in housewives occupying the third largest ranking and the largest finding of HIV cases were found in the productive age group, namely the age of 25-45 years," he said. He emphasized that in an effort to accelerate the national response to HIV/AIDS, the government has set a Minimum Service Standard (SPM). This standard must be achieved by the Regional Government and has been stated in PP No. 2 of 2018, and the achievement of SPM is the responsibility of the regional government of regents, mayors and governors. The Riau Provincial Government (Pemprov), he said, has made efforts to tackle HIV/AIDS, namely by stipulating Regional Regulation Number 4 of 2006 concerning HIV/AIDS Management and the Riau Province AIDS Management Commission institution. "Therefore, people affected by HIV/AIDS (ODHA) must be approached and embraced so that aid can run smoothly. Education about HIV/AIDS needs to be disseminated to the public, because people suffering from this disease should not be doubted but directed to carry out treatment," he said. In addition, the Deputy Governor appealed to the relevant regional apparatus organizations to allocate a budget for HIV/AIDS prevention in accordance with applicable regulations. Because, this budget allocation policy as a proof of efforts to fight HIV/AIDS gets serious attention from the local government. "Let's massively promote HIV prevention and control/AIDS. Take advantage of digital media, the latest digital technology, expand access to prevention and tests, to treatment," he said. Do not let there be a stoppage of treatment.
