SUMBAR - The West Pasaman District Attorney's Office (Kejari) destroyed evidence of tens of kilograms of narcotics and evidence of a number of other cases that had permanent legal force.

"The evidence that was destroyed was 98 cases for the period October 2021 to November 2022. For narcotics methamphetamine and ecstasy pills, they were destroyed by blending and other evidence burned," said Head of the West Pasaman Kejari, Ginanjar Cahya Permana, at Simpang Empat, West Sumatra (West Sumatra), quoted from Antara, Wednesday, November 16.

The evidence that was destroyed included 104.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine from 30 cases, 71.6 kilograms of marijuana from 21 cases, and 1.68 grams of ecstasy from one case.

Then the evidence from eight cases of sexual abuse, 19 cases of theft, seven cases of abuse, two cases of vandalism, six gambling cases, and evidence from other cases.

According to Ginanjar, the destruction of this evidence is a form of commitment from law enforcement officers at the Kejari, Polres and the West Pasaman National Narcotics Agency (BNN) in eradicating drug trafficking which is still high in the area.

"The destruction of this evidence is a commitment in an effort to avoid misuse of evidence by irresponsible parties," he said.

He said that the destruction of evidence this time was different from before. The current destruction is carried out by making a number on each piece of evidence and participants can first see the items to be destroyed, both of the type and weight.

"Participants who attend can directly check the evidence that will be destroyed," he said.

This method is a form of transparency of the West Pasaman Kejari in destroying evidence that has permanent legal force.

On that occasion, the police, district courts, BNN, and other relevant agencies immediately checked the evidence before it was destroyed by blending and burning it.
