JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) stated that the number of cases of acute kidney disorders in children has not increased in the last two weeks.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Mohammad Syahril, said that over the past two weeks since November 2, cases have decreased.
"This means that cases have not increased, so there are still 324 cases in the last two weeks," he said at an online press conference, Wednesday, November 16 at noon.
He said, until November 15, 2022 cases of acute kidney disorders in children were reported to have appeared in 27 provinces in Indonesia.
The details are based on the Antara report, namely DKI Jakarta (83 cases), West Java (41 cases), Aceh (32 cases), East Java (25 cases), Banten (21 cases), West Sumatra (20 cases), Bali (16 cases), and North Sumatra (15 cases).
Cases of acute kidney problems in children were also found in South Sulawesi (9 cases), Jambi (8 cases), East Nusa Tenggara (6 cases), Yogyakarta Special Region (6 cases), South Sumatra (5 cases), Central Java (5 cases), and Bangka Belitung Islands, Southeast Sulawesi, Riau Islands, and Lampung with four cases each.
In addition, there are three cases in North Kalimantan three cases; two cases each in West Nusa Tenggara, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan; and one each in Gorontalo, Bengkulu, North Sulawesi, and West Kalimantan.
According to government data, 111 patients with acute kidney problems have recovered, 199 people have died, and 14 people are still undergoing intensive care.
" Fourteen are still being treated at the RSCM. That is included in the stage 3 category or the most severe. The kidney damage is quite severe with other conditions, but there are no comorbidities, because they are still children," said Syahril.
Syahril explained that government interventions that contributed to the decline in the number of cases of acute kidney disorders in children in Indonesia include the imposition of a temporary ban on using the preparation of sirop drugs since October 18, 2022.
In addition, the Food and Drug Administration released a list of safe drugs for consumption on October 23, 2022, and the government distributed 16 vials of Fomepizole on October 25, 2022, and 100 vials on October 30, 2022 to support patient treatment with acute kidney disorders.
"In the meantime, there are still supplies ready to be sent to areas in need. Meanwhile, we have not ordered more," said Syahril.
