Residents' settlements and 50 families were forced to flee to the village office hall due to the flooding that occurred in Benteng Hilir Village (Village) in Mempura District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. Head of the Siak Regency Social Service, Wan Idris, said the government had prepared a place to evacuate in the village office hall because it was still raining and the river water level was still high in the area. Overall, the flood affected around 300 families in Mempura District, but not all residents affected by the flood evacuated. The Social Service and related stakeholders have established a flood post at the Kampung Benteng Hilir Office. One large tent belonging to the Regional Disaster Management Agency has also been established in the yard of the village office. "We also hope that in all village offices there must be a flood post. There we can coordinate logistical assistance to whom it can be evenly distributed," said Wan Idris in Siak, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, November 16. In addition, the Social Service has distributed food and clothing assistance to residents affected by the flood. Heavy rains caused flooding in several parts of Siak Regency. Apart from Mempura District, floods occurred in Kandis District, Sungai Apit, Tualang, Pusako, Kotogasib, Siak, and Mandau. The flood disaster was recorded to have affected 300 families in Kandis, 198 families in Sungai Apit, 166 families in Tualang, 71 families in Pusako, 32 families in Kotogasib, 27 families in Siak, and nine families in Sungai Mandau. The Social Service seeks to accelerate the determination of the status of flood emergency alerts to facilitate the disbursement of disaster management funds and mobilize resources to deal with the impact of disasters.
