H-1 Of The G20 Bali Summit, BNPB Focuss On Observing Potential Disasters Due To Weather Factors

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) focuses on potential disasters due to weather factors at the D-1 Summit at the G20 Bali Summit.

This was conveyed by the Head of BNPB Lieutenant General TNI Suharyanto while reviewing the activities of the Bali BPBD team to anticipate potential natural disasters ahead of the G20 Summit in Denpasar, Sunday, November 13.

"Strengthen the capacity of personnel and always check the readiness of supporting equipment. The readiness of personnel and equipment is an indicator of strength in disaster management," said Suharyanto in a written statement, Monday, November 14.

During the review, Suharyanto monitored the weather forecast monitoring activities in the Bali Province area. He also listened to the coordination process through digital communication radio between the Bali Province BPBD Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) team and the local city/district BPBD.

Suharyanto was also shown monitoring of earthquake early warning data that was integrated with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

He emphasized routine patrol activities to see and monitor field conditions so that prevention and mitigation efforts can be carried out before a disaster occurs.

"Do regular patrols and continue to be vigilant, especially in anticipating potential disasters caused by weather factors," he said, quoted by Antara.

On this occasion, the Head of BPBD for Bali Province, I Made Rentin, said that monitoring activities were carried out intensely, especially in welcoming the peak of the G20 Bali event which was held in Nusa Dua on November 15-16, 2022.

"We ensure security and anticipate potential natural disasters by deploying personnel and supporting equipment in the area around the activity venue in Nusa Dua," he said.

BNPB together with the Bali Province BPBD have prepared an early warning tool for natural disasters based on GSM networks, digital radio to communicate, multipurpose cars at the Indonesian G20 COVID-19 Handling Health Protocol Monitoring and Control Post located in Puja Mandala, Nusa Dua, Bali Province.
