Ciliwung River Melawan, Flood As High As 1.2 Meter Rendam Permukiman In Kampung Melayu

JAKARTA - Floods as high as 1.2 meters due to overflowing Ciliwung River inundated residential areas in RW 04 and 05 Kebon Pala, Kampung Melayu Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.

Head of RT 13/RW 04, Sanusi said the flooding in his settlement was due to the flow of water from the Bogor and Depok areas.

"From around 16.00 WIB yesterday (Sunday 13 November), I received information from BPBD that the water was rising. Starting from last night's flood at 22.00 WIB," Sanus said in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, November 14.

Sanusi added that most residents still choose to stay on the second floor of their respective homes.

They reasoned that they were used to being affected by floods like that.

He said residents only moved their motorbikes to a higher environmental road and furniture to the second floor of the house so that it would not be damaged by the Ciliwung River flood.

"Until this morning the water was still rising. But no residents have been evacuated or evacuated, it's still safe," said Sanusi.

Sanusi said that currently BPBD, PPSU, and Satpol PP officers are still monitoring the location to anticipate if the water discharge is getting higher and residents need evacuation assistance.

Furthermore, Sanusi said that if the flood conditions were higher, the residents of Kebon Pala would evacuate to SDN Kampung Melayu 01, which is not far from the settlements of RW 04 and RW 05.

"If the flood continues to rise, we will evacuate the residents," he said.
