Jakarta's COVID-19 Cases Increase, Acting Governor of DKI Orders Health Office to Tighten Prokes, Mandatory Wear of Masks and Boosters

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, ordered the DKI Jakarta Health Office to tighten health protocols (prokes) in line with the increasing number of COVID-19 cases. Heru also requires residents to always wear masks and carry out the third or booster dose of vaccination.

"Yesterday, through the Health Service, I ordered that we all wear masks and boosters", said Heru at Pluit Village Mall, North Jakarta, Saturday, November 12.

Heru said that the DKI Provincial Government would pick up the ball so that residents would immediately get a booster. Especially, visiting the elderly for vaccination.

"Including the elderly, they will come for injections", said Heru.

Heru hopes that by tightening procedures and carrying out vaccinations, COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, especially in the capital city, can immediately decrease.

"Hopefully COVID-19 becomes, what becomes endemic", he hoped.

It is known that the number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia increased again on Thursday, November 10, when 6,294 new cases were confirmed. According to data compiled by the COVID-19 Task Force, DKI Jakarta reported the highest increase in cases, namely 2,396 patients.

Data as of Thursday also shows that 4,223 people have recovered and 37 have died. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia since 2020 has reached 6,544,201 people, of which 6,339,381 people have recovered and 158,989 have died.

Quoted to Antara, there are 45,831 active cases of COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment and isolation after being infected with the disease. That number represents an increase of 2,071 active cases compared to Wednesday, November 9.

The Task Force also reported 5,860 people included in the suspect category. The addition of cases was reported after testing 63,869 specimens from 29,481 people in all laboratory networks in the country.
