JAKARTA - The South Jakarta Metro Police has named one person suspected of beating the North Cipete Village Head as a suspect under the threat of Article 170 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding the criminal act of public beating.
"The perpetrator we have named a suspect and has now been detained since we secured it after the incident," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Jimmy Christian Samma, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 10.
AKBP Jimmy said that one of the three perpetrators who allegedly carried out the beating of the North Cipete Village Head, Nurcahaya, was carrying out crowd control actions for violating Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) on 21 November 2020.
The perpetrator who has been secured with the initials RQ is 22 years old and is female.
According to Jimmy, the three perpetrators had their respective roles when the beating took place. The RQ perpetrator, who had already been arrested after the beating, was the one who hit the face of the Head of North Cipete Urban Village.
"There were three people who pushed. Then there was a beating. Among the three people, there were those who held their hands, some were tugging at the head of the village head, some hitting the village head," said Jimmy.
As a result of the beating, the Head of North Cipete Urban Village, Nurchaya, suffered bruises on his right face.
Jimmy said that currently his party was still pursuing the two other beatings, who were suspected of hiding after the incident.
The perpetrators of the beatings were guests of the Waroeng Brothers coffee shop and restaurant Jalan Kemang Selatan VII B, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta which was disciplined by the Head of North Cipete Village together with members of the Community Early Awareness Forum (FKDM) because they were caught crowding outside the operational time limit of the business premises.
The Head of Cipete Urban Village and members of FKDM conducted monitoring based on citizen reports, then took steps to curb and enforce the transitional PSBB rules.
However, visitors to the coffee shop did not heed the officers' appeal and there was a riot that ended in beating the mother of the North Cipete Urban Village.
