Mayor Eri Cahyadi Wants To Be Bersholawat In Surabaya To Be Held Every Month

JAKARTA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi wants Surabaya Bersholawat activities to be held alternately every month in the City of Heroes.

"So I will continue to do that. Because later, God willing, I will do it every month, rotating salawat throughout the Surabaya region," he said as quoted in a press release by the city government in Surabaya, East Java, quoted from Antara, Saturday, November 12.

The Surabaya City Government held a Surabaya Bersholawat activity on Thursday night, November 10 on the east side of the Surabaya Hero Monument. Thousands of residents from inside and outside the city of Surabaya attended the event.

Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf or Habib Syech also attended the prayer ceremony which was held to commemorate Hero's Day.

"I ask all religions to strengthen their respective religious teachings to their followers. Muslims happen to be with Ahlussunnah wal jamaah, by doing salawat," said the mayor.

He also asked other religious communities to increase religious activities.

"Those whose religions are Christians, Buddhists, or Hindus are the same way. Do it too. That's what I really want, so that his heart becomes good for everyone," he said.
