The COVID-19 Task Force Bans Paslon From Crowding To Celebrate Pilkada Victory At Quick Count Result

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, prohibited the 2020 Regional Head Election candidate pairs and the public from celebrating the victory after the results of the quick count were published.

"I remind you that the public as well as candidate pairs are prohibited from carrying out mass mobilization activities in the pilkada celebrating the victory after the quick count results come out," Wiku said in the Presidential Secretariat Youtube broadcast, Thursday, November 10.

Wiku asked all parties, including candidate pairs, political parties, campaign teams, and the supporting community to understand that the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Indonesia is not yet under control.

Therefore, all mass gathering activities that have the potential to increase the spread of the corona virus are asked to be avoided.

"This year's Pilkada is different from the previous pilkada, so I ask for his maturity and wisdom not to hold events that have the potential to trigger a crowd for whatever reason," said Wiku.

Wiku said that the average compliance of individuals wearing masks in the election area (TPS) for the elections was 95.96 percent. Then, the average obedience to maintain distance and avoid crowds was 90.71 percent.

This is monitored in the United Against COVID-19 application for 164.5 million people with 42.4 million monitoring points spread across 512 districts / cities and 34 provinces in Indonesia.

Unfortunately, the results of monitoring of institutional compliance and the availability of supporting facilities, such as hand washing stations, disinfectants, and health care implementation supervisors, are still low. This compliance is below 50 percent.
