ACEH - The East Aceh Regency Government (Pemkab) through the Agriculture Service of Food Crops and Horticulture stated that 1,090 hectares of rice plants in the district are threatened with crop failure due to flooding. "The thousands of hectares of rice fields that are threatened with crop failure are spread across 13 villages in two sub-districts in East Aceh Regency," said Head of the Agriculture Service for Food Crops and Horticulture in East Aceh Regency Erwin Atlizar in East Aceh, Antara, Wednesday, November 9. Erwin Atlizar said the flooded rice fields were found in Pereulak District, including Blang Batee Village, Tanah Rata Village, Bandrong Village, and Paya Lipah Village with a planting area of 120 hectares. "Meanwhile, the area of rice fields planted in the sub-district reaches 339 hectares. Meanwhile, it is affected by flooding and is threatened with crop failure reaching 120 hectares," said Erwin Atlizar. Then in Peureulak Barat District, covering Mon Geudong Village, Paya Seungat Village, Tanjong Tualang Village, Beusa Seubrang Village, Paya Gajah Village, Beusa Baroh, Teumpeun Village, Beringin Village, and Kabu Village with a flooded area of 970 hectares. Meanwhile, rice nurseries also occurred in the Pereulak sub-district. It was reported that tens of hectares of rice fields sank in the area so that it was certain that farmers would again fail to grow, said Erwin Atlizar. "Until now, the flooded community rice fields are like an ocean. If this condition occurs in the next few years, it is certain that the rice plants will experience puso," said Erwin Atlizar. In addition to rice plants, Erwin Atlizar said the flood also submerged corn plants. Seumanah Jaya Village, Ranto Pereulak District, at least four hectares of corn crops were affected by flooding. "We have reported all the data affected by this flood to the Aceh Food Crops and Horticulture Agriculture Service and also to the Central Agriculture Ministry," said Erwin Atlizar.
