JAKARTA - Stanford University is reviewing its security procedures, after a man was reportedly found living illegally on campus, the university said in a statement Tuesday.

The man has been "reported on campus several times since December last year", but was recently arrested on October 27, according to Dee Mostofi, assistant vice president of external communications for the university located in northern California, United States, reported CNN November 2

The Stanford Daily, a university newspaper, identified the man as William Curry and he was named by the university as Mr. Curry.

Curry reportedly "socializes with other residents" and is regularly allowed into the dorm by some assistant resident, according to Stanford Daily.

The newspaper obtained a message showing the resident's assistant was trying to verify who was authorized to stay in the dormitory via a list of names.

While some discussions were held with several resident staff regarding Curry's intrusion, "there is no broad communication about him to all Stanford volunteers," said Mostofi.

The state of the case, including Curry's "traints and ability to win the hearts of our student communities," shows the gap is in the protocol to prevent such incidents from happening, Mostofi said.

"We will immediately conduct a review to ensure our procedures do not allow incidents of this kind to happen again," he stressed.

CNN was unable to reach Curry for comment. He also rejected Stanford Daily's request for a phone interview, telling the newspaper "he did not directly oppose most of the facts of the investigation."

According to Mostofi, the university's public safety department obtained several residence permits, a prerequisite to quote someone for entry without permission on campus.

However, school officials were unable to find Curry until the latest incident, and they gave him a letter at the time.

It's unclear when the first incident occurred. CNN has contacted Stanford for clarification. CNN has also reached a group of students on campus.
