PURWAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives Dedi Mulyadi found that one of the underprivileged families in Purwakarta Regency, West Java. In his daily life this family is only able to eat rice mixed with salt or flavoring. "Until now, poverty is still a basic problem that the government continues to fix," said Dedi in Purwakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, November 3. Quite a lot of people are trapped in cultural poverty. This poverty makes them stuck in an increasingly slumped routine. Like the family that Dedi found in Sukamanah Village, Cigelam Village, Babakan Cikao District, Purwakarta. This family lives in a partner's house located on Jasa Marga's land close to the toll road. The family daily lives from the income of his family's head, Agus Deni, who sells mobile drinks in the night market and entertainment events. They usually earn Rp20-50 thousand a day. Dedi said that he had asked whether he had eaten or not to the mother of the family. Mimin, the housewife, admitted that she had eaten with side dishes in the form of cucumber pieces cooked with turmeric spices. While usually, the family admits that they only eat rice with salt or taste-savvy. Currently Agus and Mimin still support their two young children, one of whom is in elementary school. Meanwhile, the largest child works as a parking attendant in the rest area with an income of Rp. 30 thousand per day. Dedi then checked the condition of the family's kitchen. It turned out that they did not have basic ingredients such as rice and side dishes. Even gas for cooking and gallon water run out. The condition of the family's house is concerning. They live in a bed with a layer of soil, plywood walls, and sarong. On the other hand, Dedi saw that Mimin's neighbors were still collecting firewood for cooking. Meanwhile, Mimin has been depending on melon gas for cooking and gallon water for drinking. According to Dedi, Agus and Mimin's family are an example of why poverty is still mushrooming in Indonesian society, such as Mimin's family which is dependent on gas stoves, even though there are still so many natural resources for firewood. Likewise, drinking water that must be purchased in the form of gallons. "The fuel wood is not used, then use gas to buy Rp. 25-35 thousand. Water uses gallons, buy more, money, rice must buy again, fish must buy more, electricity buy again, schools must eat, while the money that is sought is not obtained every day sometimes Rp. 20 thousand sometimes Rp. 50 thousand or sometimes none. Because it all depends on money, "said Dedi. He criticized Mimin's children who only watch TV every day without activities. This creates hunger for children, but nothing can be eaten. Dedi then gave Mimin some money as a provision of life. She asked for the money from her husband's sale to be saved for additional business capital. Meanwhile, to eat for the next month, you can take advantage of the money that has just been given. "This is a phenomenon of life. We can't possibly know their lives if they don't enter their kitchens. I repeatedly say that gas can produce severe poverty if it doesn't change immediately. This is a lot of wood wasted due to changes in lifestyle. I agree to use firewood because the children can go out looking for firewood, efficiency, and pick up unexpected sustenance," he said.
