PALEMBANG - Police shot dead a suspect on the wanted list (DPO) for the murder of a married couple in Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra.

Banyuasin Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head, AKP Hary Dinar, said the suspect was LV alias Peni (42).

Suspect LV was found hiding in a hut in the rice field area of ​​Sungai Genesis Hamlet, Rimau Village, Sungsang, Banyuasin Regency after several weeks of being hunted by the police.

The police also conducted an ambush at the suspect's hiding place to arrest him at around 07.00 WIB.

During the arrest operation, the suspect resisted and threatened the police using homemade firearms.

"Due to this resistance, the police were forced to shoot suspect LV (to death, ed)", said AKP Hary, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 1.

The suspect's body was taken to the Forensic Installation of Bhayangkara M Hasan Hospital Palembang for identification and the importance of the investigation process.

LV served as the main executor of the robbery that killed a married couple, a resident of Nunggal Sari Village, Pulau Rimau District, Banyuasin Regency on Wednesday, October 12.

This was revealed from the statements of four other suspects YD (42), RK (16), MR (39), and KL (49), residents of Meranti Village, Hamlet III, and Banyuasin.

The four suspects were previously arrested by the Banyuasin Police Criminal Investigation Unit and the South Sumatra Regional Police's Sub Directorate III Jatanras during a pursuit operation in the Tanjung Lago Kelapa River waters, Thursday, October 13 morning.

Previously, Director of the General Crime Investigation Unit of the South Sumatra Police, Commissioner Anwar Reksowidjoyo, in Palembang, Tuesday, October 18, said the four suspects were arrested for recklessly robbing all property to kill the lives of the victims who are husbands and wife, namely Sunardi and Srinarti.

Sunardi the head of Nunggal Sari Hamlet and his wife were found dead with sharp weapons found in their room by the Detective and Criminal Unit of Banyuasin Police, Wednesday, October 12 at dawn.

To investigators, the suspects with farmer backgrounds admitted that they were tempted by the property owned by the victim, who also works as a swallow's nest entrepreneur in the local village.

From the robbery, the suspects took away a gold necklace weighing two tribes (one tribe = 6.7 grams, Red), three half-tribal gold rings, quarter gram earrings, several boxes of cigarettes worth IDR 25 million, three units of gadgets, and cash worth IDR 232.9 million. The total amount of property belonging to the victims who were robbed by the suspects when calculated reached IDR 383.9 million.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code regarding premeditated murder, Article 365 paragraph 4 concerning theft with violence until the victim dies with a life sentence of imprisonment.
