Lukas Enembe Awaits KPK's Arrival To Jayapura

JAKARTA - Papua Governor Lukas Enembe is waiting for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to come to check on his condition. He confirmed that he would cooperate in participating in the medical examination by the independent team formed by the anti-corruption commission.

"We are still waiting for their arrival (KPK, ed)," said Lukas Enembe's attorney, Aloysius Renwarin in a written statement quoted on Monday, October 31.

Aloysius ensured that his client was ready to be examined and that nothing would hinder the KPK's steps. "The family is cooperative," he said.

Even so, Lukas Enembe's side still wants the governor to go abroad to check his condition. Lukas Enembe's personal doctor, Anton Morte, said that his client's current health check was not optimal even though doctors from Singapore were present.

Moreover, there must be a doctor who monitors the condition of Lukas's heart and kidneys. Thus, they claim that treatment at a health facility is actually more suitable for the Governor of Papua.

"So it's not a check-up. This treatment should be routinely carried out every day, observed by each field such as the heart, nerves, and kidneys every day. If the examination, with the doctor, who comes like this, is very ineffective, it should be directed at the health facility," explained Anton.

As previously reported, the KPK confirmed that it would dispatch its doctors who are members of the PB IDI independent team to Jayapura. They will check the health of Lukas Enembe, who is now a suspect in a corruption case.

In addition to dispatching an independent team, it is planned that a leader will also meet Lukas. However, it has not been decided who will go there and when the team will depart.

For information, Lukas Enembe has been named a suspect by the KPK. However, the case against him has not been detailed.

Lukas will actually be questioned on Monday, September 26 at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. However, the examination was not carried out because Lukas claimed to be sick and could not provide information.

Furthermore, the KPK will again make calls that have not been informed for sure. Lukas was asked to cooperate in responding to the summons of the KPK investigators because his statement was needed to make clear the allegations of corruption that occurred.
