JAKARTA - Iran's Revolutionary Guards thwarted a bomb attack on Shiraz two days after the deadly shooting at a city's mosque, the Sepah News news agency reported on Friday.

Fifteen worshipers were killed in the shooting at the Shah Cheragh Mosque, Shiraz on Wednesday. The attack was later claimed by ISIS.

"A bombing on Mo'ali Century Street in Shiraz was detected and thwarted by Revolutionary Guard intelligence," according to Sepah as reported by The National News Oct. 28.

The Iranian government has organized a national demonstration against the shooting, following Friday prayers.

"We will take revenge for the blood of Shiraz's martyrs," said Haji Ali Akbari in Tehran.

Earlier, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed on Thursday to retaliate against those who threaten the country's security.

Officials said they had arrested an armed man who carried out an attack on the mosque, which took place amid widespread anti-government protests.

As previously reported, at least 15 people were killed and ten others injured on Wednesday following an attack on the Shah Cheragh Mosque in Shiraz, Iran's IRNA news agency said.

The Islamic State group said it had carried out an attack on the Shia Muslim holy site on Wednesday, raising tensions in the country that was stumbling from a wave of protests and sparking a warning of Tehran's response.

"Experience shows that Iran's enemies, after failing to create divisions in the ranks of national unity, take revenge through violence and terror," President Raisi said, speaking before ISIS released its claim of responsibility.

"This crime will inevitably go unanswered, and security forces and law enforcement will teach those who designed and carried out the attack," he stressed.
