JAKARTA - Officials of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province said 110 hectares of rice fields belonging to residents of four villages in Uram Jaya District were affected by flooding that hit the area last Tuesday, October 25. "This flood incident occurred on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at around 17.47 WIB. This flood submerged settlements and rice fields in four villages in Uram Jaya District," said Head of Emergency and Disaster Management of BPBD Lebong Regency, Hender when contacted, Antara, Wednesday, October 26. The floods that hit the area were the result of heavy rains, causing the Uram River to overflow and flood residential areas and rice fields. The 4 affected villages are Lemeu, Kota Agung Village, Betangur Village and Embong Village. There were no casualties in this incident. Hendra said that the amount of material losses was being calculated by village officials, especially rice fields that were affected, including 50 hectares in Lemeu Village and 60 hectares in Kota Agung Village. In addition to rice fields, two clean water facilities in Lemeu Village were also affected, including the breaking of the suspension bridge in Kota Agung Village. Furthermore, 418 houses were affected in Lemeu Village, 50 houses in the Betangur Village area, 100 houses in Kota Agung Village and 20 houses in Embong Village. According to him, currently the flood conditions that hit the four villages have started to recede, where at the time of the incident it was submerged up to 1 meter so that his party together with TNI/Polri officers together with sub-district and village officials evacuated a number of affected residents. He appealed to the people of the area to increase their self-awareness considering that they are currently entering extreme weather so that natural disasters may occur at any time.
