Engine Dead Ship in Manokwari Waters Found by SAR Team

MANOKWARI - The joint SAR team of Manokwari managed to find the Penjur Bintang motor boat with three passengers drifting in the waters of Manokwari after experiencing engine failure on Tuesday October 25.

Manokwari Police Chief AKBP Parasian Herman Gultom confirmed that the search and rescue operation with the Manokwari Police found the Penjuru Bintang ship between the waters of Manokwari and Numfor Island. Three crew members are safe.

"The ship was found at a position 13 miles from the Manokwari coastline or between the waters of Manokwari and Numfor Island. The three crew members (ABK) are safe and will be examined further after arriving in Manokwari", said AKBP Parasian as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 26.

Head of the Manokwari Search and Rescue (SAR) Office, I Wayan Suyatna, said a joint SAR team consisting of SAR, Manokwari Police, and KSOP had found the Penjuru Bintang ship and was currently in the process of evacuating back to Manokwari.

The second day of operations succeeded in finding the Penjuru Bintang ship after the Manokwari SAR was assisted by a KSOP ship from the Manokwari Port and searched by air using a West Papua Police Helicopter.

"The joint team is currently on its way back to Manokwari by towing the ship", said Suyatna.

The Penjuru Bintang ship with three crew members drifted after experiencing an engine failure in the waters of Manokwari. This incident was reported by the captain of the Penjur Bintang, Muhammad Amran Nur.

"The ship at the corner of the Star experienced an engine failure in the waters of Manokwari, so the captain had to pull over to the mainland to repair the damaged ship's engine components, but when he returned, the ship was no longer at the initial location so he reported it to the Manokwari SAR office", said Suyatna.

The three crew members of the Penjur Bintang ship who were reported to have survived were Mateus (25 years old), Owel (21 years old), and Ari (27 years old).
