Cases Of COVID-19 In Beijing Are Increasing, Universal Resort Is Temporarily Closed

JAKARTA - Beijing's Universal Resort theme park announced a temporary closure on Wednesday regarding COVID-19 precautions, as infection cases increase in the Chinese capital.

The owner of Comcast Corp., has not indicated when the theme park will reopen. However, it provides ticket rescheduling services to refunds belonging to potential visitors, who have purchased tickets beforehand.

"We will continue to assess its impact on operations and seek to resume operations as soon as possible," the manager said at Weibo.

Previously, the park was closed for two months and only reopened in June, due to the spread of the Omicron variant.

The international network thematic park cost 20 billion yuan or around IDR 44.3 trillion. This park first operated on September 1, 2021.

Beijing, which has some of China's strictest COVID-19 restrictions, experienced an increase in the number of infections following the national Gold Week holiday earlier this month.

On October 25 yesterday, the city reported 19 symptomatic cases and one asymptomatic infection, while China reported a total of 1,407 new cases, the highest number in 12 days.
