SUAKBUMI - Cicurug Police personnel together with minimarket residents and employees were able to arrest one of the four members of a gang of breaking into an automated teller machine (ATM) from Lampung who was in action at a minimarket on Jalan Raya Siliwangi, Kampung Kembangkuning, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. "We received information from a minimarket employee who was in RT 02/03, Tenjoayu Village, Cicurug District, who reported four people who attempted to break into an ATM machine that was in a minimarket which we immediately followed up by visiting the location," said Cicurug Police Chief, Kompol Parlan, in Sukabumi, Antara, Monday, October 24. The attempted action carried out by a gang of specialists who broke into ATM machines occurred last Sunday at around 09.00 WIB at a minimarket on Jalan Raya Siliwangi. The attempted ATM burglary was carried out by four suspected perpetrators from Lampung, two perpetrators pretended to withdraw money at an ATM machine, while the other two were waiting in a silver Xenia car. Minimarket employees who suspected the actions of the two perpetrators who were fiddling with ATM machines then reprimanded and the two shocked perpetrators immediately fled. One suspect was arrested by a minimarket employee but managed to get out of the minimarket for resisting. However, minimarket employees continued to try to chase the perpetrators and shouted thieves, inviting the attention of residents. Finally, one suspect with the initials SG (21) was arrested by the masses and immediately taken to the Cicurug Police Office. Meanwhile, three of his colleagues fled using Xenia's car towards Bogor Regency, West Java. According to Parlan, from the suspect's statement, this gang rented a house in DKI Jakarta. "This gang action was planned beforehand, they deliberately came from Jakarta to look for ATM machines that were about to be broken into, allegedly a gang of specialists who broke into ATM machines who had often carried out their actions in various locations," he added. Parlan said that they are still developing the case in coordination with the police in other areas, including Bogor Regency, to arrest three other perpetrators.
