ACEH - The Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) Aceh noted that 29 children in the westernmost province of Indonesia suffered from acute kidney failure. Even 22 of them have died. “ Currently there are 29 acute kidney failure children. Most patients from Banda Aceh and Central Aceh,” said Head of IDAI Aceh Branch Dr. Syafruddin Haris, SpA (K) in Banda Aceh, Antara, Monday, October 24. Acute kidney failure began to be detected in the Aceh region since July 2022, then the increase in cases continues to occur today. Generally, acute kidney failure occurs in children aged 0-18 years. In Aceh, the most common sufferer is between 1-2 years old. The death rate of acute kidney failure in Aceh is quite high. This is because the patient referred to Zainoel Abidin Hospital in Banda Aceh is already in a severe condition. "This heavy case can be caused by delays in referrals, usually already being treated in private hospitals or in districts/cities," he said.
