KALSEL - The construction of the Jagoi Babang Cross-Border Post (PLBN) in West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) is only 4 percent. This PLBN stands on a land area of approximately 16.7 hectares.

"Currently, the progress of PLBN Jagoi Babang's physical development has reached 96 percent. This work started in November 2020 and is targeted for completion in October 2022, with a budget sourced from the 2020-2022 State Budget (MYC) of IDR 209.14 billion," said Head of the Bengkayang Regency Regional Border Management Agency (BPPPD), Lorensius, quoted from Antara, Sunday, October 23.

He explained that the construction of the Jagoi Babang Integrated PLBN was part of the 11 PLBN development program as regulated in Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2019 concerning the Acceleration of Development of 11 Integrated Cross-Border Posts and Supporting Infrastructure Facilities in Border Areas.

The Jagoi Babang PLBN is being carried out by the Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BBPW) of West Kalimantan Province, Directorate General of Human Settlements. The PLBN development consists of three building zones, namely, the core zone, the supporting zone 1 and 2.

"The core zone consists of core PLBN buildings, car washes, power houses, confiscated warehouses, temporary garbage shelters (TPS), Tasbara gates, immigration checkpoints, toilets and X-Ray equipment. The supporting zone 1 consists of guesthouse buildings and employee mes. The supporting zone 2 consists of mosque buildings, chapels, markets and mini terminals," he explained.

Lorensius stated that the PLBN work should have been completed and inaugurated in July 2022, but there were other obstacles to October 17.

"From the information I got, the inauguration will be carried out in December because there are several obstacles. However, we are still waiting for further information from the center, whether it will be inaugurated in December or there will be more changes," he said.

He stated that the next obstacle was the road to the zero point which was still on the ground about 100 meters. His party has also tried to write to BBPW.

"Hopefully there will be positive responses and if it is built, of course it will need more costs, and that's back to technical," he said.

The Bengkayang Regency Government, Loren said, has certainly prepared itself, both in terms of human resources and supporting activities in improving the community's economy. The local community is asked to be proactive and creative, so that they are not only spectators but also as perpetrators.

"That's what we are doing, so that later our people can be ready and can compete. Each can show the results of their creativity through. The local government has also dispatched a team of coaches or assistants to our MSMEs. So that by doing so they are more skilled and produce products with better selling value," he explained.

He hopes that after the opening of the Jagoi Babang PLBN there will be economic growth in the community and later there will be priorities for workers for local residents.

"Empower local residents according to the expertise they have, so that no local residents are just spectators," he said.
