Pangdam Sriwijaya II: TNI Soldiers And Wife Are Not Allowed To Comment On The 2024 General Election At Social Media

The Commander of Kodam (Pangdam) II/Sriwijaya Maj. Gen. Hilman Hadi emphasized that all TNI soldiers did not comment on politics on social media (medsos) related to the 2024 election.

Hadi conveyed that his directive was also binding on Persit or the Army Women's Association. According to him, the TNI and its inherent elements must maintain neutrality ahead of the five-year democratic party.

"Entering this political year, the neutrality of the TNI must be prioritized," said Hilman Hadi during his working visit to Korem 045/Garuda Jaya Pangkalpinang, Riau Islands (Kepri), Sunday, October 23.

Hilman said that TNI members must be neutral in politics as mandated in the law. This is like, the TNI must not side with political parties or certain partners in the 2024 election.

"I emphasize that all soldiers, civil servants and Persit should not comment on social media, both statements and others, let alone lead to support for certain candidates," he said.

He ensured that if there were TNI soldiers proven not neutral or even participated in certain political parties, they would be subject to strict sanctions according to applicable law.

"We hope that the public will report if they find out that TNI members are involved in this political arena," he said.

During the working visit, Pangdam Sriwijaya II gave directions to soldiers, civil servants, and Persit as well as planting trees. In addition, Hilman also reviewed the units that will be inaugurated and provided compensation to stunting toddlers and Islamic boarding schools in Babel.

Hilman also appreciated the public's high trust in the TNI. This is the hard work of all ranks so that it needs to be maintained.
