Jokowi's Commemoration Regarding Don't Be Welfare To Choose A President Candidate It's Believed Not For NasDem

JAKARTA - The NasDem Party believes that President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) warning about not being reckless or arbitrary in choosing presidential candidates (candidates) in the 2024 presidential election is not for them.

Moreover, the party created by Surya Paloh has a tradition of announcing the candidate he carried earlier than other parties.

"Pak Jokowi's statement is not for NasDem," said Deputy Chairman of the Central Executive Board (DPP) of the NasDem Party, Ahmad Ali in a written statement, Sunday, October 23.

Ali said Jokowi also knew about this habit. In fact, he mentioned when the NasDem Party was the first to support Jokowi as a presidential candidate in the 2014 presidential election.

As a result, NasDem's decision to choose Jokowi as the new pilot in the 2014 presidential election and also 2019 was the right decision for Indonesia. "The tradition has been started since the NasDem Party was founded and the one being nominated is Jokowi, who was then governor," he said.

Ali ensured that his party's decision to support the former Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan in the 2024 presidential election was not just carried out. So, he believes that Jokowi's ultimatum was not intended for them.

"So, we are not reckless because we have gone through very long stages and mechanisms," continued Ali.

Previously, President Jokowi asked political parties not to arbitrarily choose the presidential candidate he would carry. He conveyed this at the peak of the 58th Anniversary of the Golkar Party on Friday, October 21.

Apart from being seen by the General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto as the host, general chairman and officials of political parties in the country were also present. They are the General Chair of the NasDem Party Surya Paloh, Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, to the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto.

"I am sure, I am sure, I am sure that Golkar will carefully, will be thorough, will not be reckless in declaring presidential and vice presidential candidates in 2024. Even though I saw earlier that all of Pak Airlangga Hartarto shouted and I also believe that those who will be elected by the Golkar party, presidential and vice presidential candidates are the right figures," Jokowi said in his remarks.

Furthermore, after the event, Jokowi said that the president who was elected in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) would lead 273 million Indonesians. Thus, all parties cannot simply vote.

"I convey carefully with calculations that are not reckless," said the former governor of DKI Jakarta.
