JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Maruf Amin said that students have continued to play a role in filling the independence and development of the Indonesian nation since the resolution of jihad on October 22, 1945.

Ma'ruf mentioned several things that underlie students continue to play a role for the nation, one of which is the spirit of loving the country which is part of faith.

"First, the spirit of hubbul waton minal faith, loving the country is considered part of faith. Therefore, in the NU (Nahdlatul Ulama) mars it is called 'ya lal waton ya lal waton, hubbul waton minal faith, love the country part of faith'," said Ma'ruf during the National Santri Day Commemoration at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, October 21.

With that spirit, he continued, the students are ready to do anything to defend, defend and fight for the country.

"I think that's why the students are ready. Until they sacrifice their lives, they are ready for the nation and state," he said.

He also said the students adhered to and kept the agreement. With the formation of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) and Pancasila as the basis for it is a national agreement, he said, this is what the students continue to uphold.

"If the students say the NKRI has a fixed price, it means holding fast to the national agreement," he said.

Therefore, said Maruf, students reject all forms of other ideologies or other forms of the country because they violate the agreement.

Santri is also required to prosper the earth through economic development, both in agriculture, plantation, mining, and industry, based on science and technology.

"This means that students are required to master science and technology. After the founders used to fight for and defend independence, now we maintain unity, maintain ukhuwah, maintain tolerance, and prosper and build Indonesia towards advanced and prosperous Indonesia," he said.
