Facing Crisis Threats, Moeldoko Calls On The Spirit Of Mutual Cooperation In Diversity

Presidential Chief of Staff Dr. Moeldoko emphasized that currently Indonesia's toughness is being tested by a world situation that is not doing well. Starting from the threat of a food crisis, energy, to a global financial crisis. Facing that, he exclaimed, it takes a spirit of mutual cooperation in diversity to create stability in society.

"Local governments must contribute in creating a conducive situation. So that we can focus on anticipating the impact of the world crisis, and no community has fallen into poverty," said Moeldoko in his remarks at the district/city HAM Presence Conference, in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 19.

Moeldoko said that various issues related to ethnic and religious-based idential politics, as well as persecution of gender injustice, still occurred in several places in Indonesia. For this reason, he encourages local governments to form accountable and inclusive governance, which ensures equal access and provides broad participation space.

"Through this conference, I hope that local governments share experiences related to the efforts that have been made in the context of respecting diversity and inclusion," Moeldoko said.

For information, the 2022 Human Rights-friendly district/city mainstreaming conference was held by Komnas HAM together with the Presidential Staff Office and the International NGO Forum on Indonesia Development (INFID), on 19-20 October 2022.

Carrying the theme Strengthening Diversity and Inclusion in Realizing a Resilient and Harmonious Indonesia', this conference is a space for local governments to prioritize human rights values.

At the end of his remarks, Moeldoko, who once served as Commander of the 2013-2015 TNI, also invited regional leaders to be able to address various human rights issues actively and wisely within the framework of Human Rights City. Thus, Indonesia remains strong and resilient in facing the challenges of the times.
