JAKARTA - The Russian defense ministry announced it had carried out massive attacks on military targets and energy infrastructure across Ukraine, using high-precision weapons on Monday.

In its daily briefing, the Ministry of Defense said it had achieved "all the targets set" in the latest bombings of Ukrainian cities, as well as thwarted Ukraine's efforts to penetrate Moscow's defenses in the southern Kherson region.

"At noon, the Russian armed forces continue to attack with high-precision air and sea-based weapons at military command facilities and the Ukrainian energy system. All designated objects are affected," the Russian Ministry of Defense said.

Russia has stepped up its missile strike across Ukraine, after an explosion hit an important bridge linking Russia to the annexed Crimean peninsula earlier this month.

After the explosion, Russia released its biggest missile strike since the start of the invasion, hitting targets in more than a dozen cities and territories across the country, and has launched several advanced missile attacks in the days since.

As previously reported, Russia attacked Ukrainian cities by drone on Monday, killing at least three people in an apartment building in downtown Kyiv during rush hour in the morning, targeting infrastructure across the country in the second major wave of airstrikes in a week.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia's attacks, which took place throughout the night and morning, would not be able to destroy the country, were optimistic that it would win.

"All night and all morning the enemy terrorized civilian residents. Kamikaze drones and missiles attacked all over Ukraine," President Zelensky said on the Telegram messaging app.

"The enemy can attack our cities, but it will not be able to destroy us. The invaders will only get punishment and a fair curse from future generations. And we will get victory," he said.

Ukraine said the attack was carried out by Iranian-made'suicide drones' or 'Kikaze drones', which flew to their targets and exploded.
