Ali Mochtar Ngabalin Reported Political Observers and Former KSP Staff to the Police

JAKARTA - Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), Ali Mochtar Ngabalin, reported two people who were deemed to have defamed his name to Polda Metro Jaya. They are social-political observer, Muhammad Yunus Anis, and former KSP staff, Bambang Beathor Suryadi.

He reported them because they said on social media that Ngabalin had a role behind the alleged corruption case of fry export.

"Because my good name was defamed. They said that I was the person who played a role in imprisoning Edhy Prabowo," Ngabalin told reporters, December 3.

The police have received the report with number LP / 7209 / XI / YAN2.5 / 2020 / SPKT PMJ, dated December 3, 2020.

Also, Ngabalin reported them because the two persons said that their trip to Hawaii was financed by a bribe in the case of fry export.

All statements of the two reported parties were not proven. Therefore, he decided to take legal action.

"Second, there are allegations that bribes from business financed my travel with the KKP abroad," he said.

"I feel that they are running against me with a state institution called the KPK," he continued.

With this reporting, the two reported were accused of criminal acts of defamation and slander through electronic media. They were charged with Article 27 Paragraph 3 Jo Article 45 Paragraph 3 Law (UU) Number 19 the Year 2016 concerning amendments to Law Number 11 the Year 2008 concerning ITE and/or Article 310 KUHP and Article 311 KUHP.

Previously, Ali Mochtar Ngabalin was released by the KPK after being arrested with Edhy Prabowo. Originally, Ngabalin joined the group as a Trustee of the Stakeholder and Consultation Commission at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP).

Deputy Chairman of the KPK, Nawawi Pamolango, said that based on the results of the investigation, he found no evidence of Ngabalin's involvement. So, he released him at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

The KPK had just found sufficient preliminary evidence against seven people. One of them is the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Edhy Parabowo, who was allegedly accepting bribes related to the export license for fry.

"In the preliminary hearing, the conclusion is that so far, only the seven people have fulfilled the evidence. At least two proofs of evidence. So far, only seven people," said Nawawi.
