Viral Video Of A Group Of Cyclists Being Hit By A Car At PIK 2, Police: Driver Allegedly Drowsing

JAKARTA - A video showing an accident between a minibus and a group of cyclists at the Baruyungan Bridge, PIK 2, Tangerang City, Banten, Sunday, October 16, has gone viral on social media (medsos).

Head of the Traffic Accident Unit (Kanit Laka) of the Tangerang Metro Police Traffic Unit, AKP Badruzzaman, explained that the incident occurred at 06.40 WIB.

Initially, a group of cyclists drove from North Jakarta to Tangerang.

From behind, a white Mazda car was driven by TJ (25) when a group of cyclists arrived at the Baruyungan Bridge.

"It hit from behind just before hitting, the driver was suspected of being sleepy and hit," Badruzzaman told reporters, Sunday, October 16.

Due to this incident, said Badruzzaman, at least six people were injured.

"The victim has been taken to the hospital. We are still checking the wound category whether it was a minor injury or serious injury. Further information will be informed later," he said.

The police have also examined a number of witnesses and conducted a crime scene (TKP). It is suspected that the accident was caused by negligence from the driver.

"We're still investigating, so he said this was after work, he continued to be sleepy," he said.

This accident case was handled by the Tangerang City Metro Police Laka Unit.
