JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested the Regent of Banggai Laut, Central Sulawesi (Central Sulawesi), Wenny Bukamo in a hand arrest operation (OTT).

According to KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron, the task force team also arrested a number of other parties consisting of state and private officials. However, he did not say how many people were arrested during this silent operation because the investigation was still being carried out in Central Sulawesi.

"We can only convey, so far that it has confirmed that there have been active arrests of organizers who are suspected of being the regent and several parties from other state and private officials. How many people," said Nurul Ghufron in a press conference broadcast on the KPK RI YouTube account, Thursday, November 3.

"How many people and how much money we are still conducting investigations so we cannot be in more detail at the current date," he added.

Nurul Ghufron emphasized that this silent operation was also not related to the implementation of the 2020 Pilkada which will be held on 9 December. This was conveyed in response to Wenny's status as an incumbent candidate.

It is known, Wenny is a candidate for district head who was promoted by PDI Perjuangan and is paired with Ridaya Laode Ngkowe. From the information gathered, he is also the first regent in Banggai Laut Regency and was first elected in December 2015.

In addition, he was also recorded as having served as a member of the Surabaya DPRD for the 1999-2004 period.

"Whether he is from party X and our timses are not very detailed. What is clear is that there are state officials and private parties who are suspected of committing corruption, we will arrest them. So in front of the KPK, there is no connection whether or not there are two or three wives, a business. the important thing in front of Kpk is that (he, red) has committed a criminal act of corruption, "he said.

Previously reported, the information regarding the silent operation by the KPK task force was confirmed by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri.

"Today, Thursday 3 December 2020 at 13.00 WIB, the Regent of Banggai Laut was arrested," Firli said when contacted by reporters via text message, Thursday, December 3.

However, Firli has not yet explained the case against Wenny. Because, currently his party is still waiting for a report from the task force team in the field.

"We are still waiting for the results of colleagues in the law enforcement in the field. Give time for comrades to work first," he said.

Previously, the KPK conducted a hand-arrest operation (OTT) against the Mayor of Cimahi, Ajay Muhammad Priatna. He was arrested for allegedly accepting bribes related to the construction of a hospital.

In addition, the KPK also conducted an OTT on the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Edhy Prabowo, who was later appointed as the recipient of bribes related to the export of lobster fries or seeds.
