Inter-District Main Road In Pacitan Terputus As A Result Of Landslides

JAKARTA - The main road between sub-districts that connects Tulakan District to Ngadirojo District, Pacitan Regency, East Java since Thursday, October 13, has been completely cut off due to being buried by landslide material along 70 meters, with a thickness of 10 meters.

The local government has made normalization efforts using heavy equipment. But as of Friday, October 14 at noon, roads could not be opened yet.

"Meanwhile, the road from the Tulakan sub-district to Ngadirojo sub-district or vice versa, we are diverting to the Pentung alternative route to the Jetak village that penetrates the JS (South Cross Road)," said Head of the Pacitan Police Traffic Unit, AKP Siswoyo in Pacitan as reported by Antara.

This landslide point occurred in Baran Hamlet, Cokrokembang Village, Ngadirojo District. The volume of avalanche material is quite large, with a height/thickness of about 10 meters and covering the inter-district road along the 70s meter.

Although it did not cause any casualties, the breaking of the connecting road access between sub-districts made the vehicle from Tulakan to Ngadirojo or vice versa had to go further.

Residents are also worried that there will be further landslides, considering that rain has often flushed with moderate and high intensity in the last few days.

Head of BPBD Pacitan Regency Erwin Andriatmoko said the handling of landslides on the Tulakan-Ngadirojo route is currently being handled cross-OPD (regional apparatus organization) with the Public Works office as the coordinator.

"Because this concerns infrastructure, the handling of landslides on the Tulakan-Ngadirojo route is controlled by the Public Works Service," Erwin replied when confirmed via a WhatsApp short message service.

It is predicted that the process of cleaning up landslide materials will take the next few days. All vehicles used to pass through that route are diverted to JLS.
