Surabaya Pilkada ISS Survey: Unstoppable Eri Cahyadi's Electability, 20 Percent Difference With Machfud Arifin

SURABAYA - Indo Survey & Strategy (ISS) presented the latest survey results in the Surabaya Pilkada. Candidate for mayor number 1 Eri Cahyadi has far superior electability compared to candidate number 2 Machfud Arifin.

In the survey which was held on November 5-12 with a margin of error of 4.77 percent, Eri Cahyadi and Armudji's electability was 47.95 percent, outperforming their opponent Machfud Arifin-Mujiaman who only got 27.73 percent. The difference between the two candidates is around 20.22 percent.

Indo Survey & Strategy researcher Karyono Wibowo, residents chose Eri Cahyadi because of his background experience in government. Eri Cahyadi is considered to have had clear evidence of his work during his time as ASN of the Surabaya City Government.

"For loyal voters for the Eri-Armudji pair of 33.41 percent and Machfud Arifin-Mujiaman only 17.76 percent," said Karyono, during a press conference for the Surabaya Pilwali survey through Zoom Meeting, Thursday, December 3, 2020.

Karyono explained, as many as 69 percent of respondents want the mayor of Surabaya to continue the program that has been carried out by Mayor Tri Rismaharini (Risma).

"There are 23 percent hoping for a new program, especially for economic improvement," he said.

The survey also illustrates respondents' perceptions of the performance of the Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini. As a result, 96.36 percent of respondents said they were very satisfied with the performance of Surabaya's first female mayor.

According to Karyono, this figure is very high. In Indonesia, according to him, it is rare for regional heads to penetrate the satisfaction rate of 96 percent.

"Likewise, Bu Risma's level of influence is very high in the city of Surabaya. The figure reaches 92.73 percent. As many as 36.59 percent of respondents will consider Risma's support in choosing the next mayor of Surabaya. Meanwhile, 31.36 percent will definitely follow," he concluded.
