JAKARTA - Ukrainian officials rejected Russia's investigation into the bridge explosion in Crimea calling it nonsense when the FSB announced a number of suspects and linked Kyiv intelligence officials to the incident.

Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed Ukrainian security forces for the explosion. Meanwhile, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said it had detained five Russian citizens and three Ukrainians and Armenians for the explosion.

"The entire FSB activity and the Investigative Committee are nonsense," Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne quoted Andriy Yusov, a press officer for Ukrainian military intelligence, as asked about Moscow's allegations of the Crimean Bridge explosion.

Yusov described the FSB and the Investigative Committee as "false structures serving the Putin regime, so we will definitely not comment on their further statements".

As previously reported, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested eight accomplices suspected of being linked to a recent explosion on the Crimean Bridge.

"So far, five Russian nationals, as well as three Ukrainian and Armenian citizens who took part in preparations for the attack, have been arrested as part of a criminal case," the FSB told TASS.

Further explained, at least 12 accomplices in preparation for terrorist acts have so far been identified. Three Ukrainians, two Georgians, and an Armenian national were behind plans to arrange the delivery of explosives from Bulgaria to Georgia and then to Armenia.

Other Ukrainians and five identified Russians have prepared documents for an unexistent Crimean company to receive explosives.

The FSB said the explosion was organized by Ukrainian military intelligence and its director, Kyrylo Bu cover. The explosive device was transferred from Ukraine to Russia via Bulgaria, Georgia, and Armenia, the FSB said.

The explosion on the twelve-mile bridge last weekend, destroyed a part of a road bridge, temporarily stopping road traffic. It also destroyed several fuel tankers on trains towards a annexed peninsula from neighboring southern Russia.
