Close to the Ka'bah Party, Ganjar Pranowo is increasingly the Internal Champion of PPP

JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo is increasingly being promoted by the Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP) as a presidential candidate for 2024.

This is illustrated by the support of several PPP Regional Management Boards (DPW) for Ganjar Pranowo in the presidential election. Among them DPW South Sulawesi, Banten, and North Sumatra.

PPP Deputy Chairperson, Arsul Sani, acknowledged that the support was an aspiration from the grassroots. According to him, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) the party to which Ganjar belongs will understand these aspirations.

"This is the attitude of party elements, of course, PDIP friends understand that this is an aspiration, not an official PPP decision. Don't conclude that it's certain, nothing is certain, everything is still open", said Arsul in his statement, Tuesday, October 11.

Arsul said that PPP was still waiting for PDIP's stance regarding the presidential candidate. According to him, as a major party that has its own ticket to run for the presidential election, PDIP will influence political attitudes, including the attitude of PPP.

"Wait for the PDI-P. We cannot deny that politics is influenced by many factors, by circumstances. But PDIP is a big party, it can carry it on its own. It can definitely influence political attitudes, including the attitude of our party", he said.

The deputy chairman of the MPR from the PPP faction said that he had reminded his party cadres to not only carry one candidate's name as much as possible. Moreover, said Arsul, the figure being carried is a cadre of another party.

“I said the PPP friend as much as possible at this time should not have one name, especially when it concerns other party cadres. For example, in Yogya there is Mr. Sandi, we respect it, but we have to think about our friends in Gerindra. After all, Mr. Sandi belongs to Gerindra, and Mr. Ganjar belongs to PDIP", explained Arsul.

On the other hand, Arsul said that Ganjar was indeed close to the party bearing the Kaaba symbol. The reason is, Ganjar's wife's family is a PPP family in Purbalingga, Central Java.

In fact, continued Arsul, the chairman of the PPP Branch Leadership Council (DPC) in Purbalingga Regency is Ganjar's brother-in-law. Even Ganjar's father-in-law, he said, was a PPP figure in Purbalingga.

“The family of GP's wife is PPP's family in Purbalingga. Even the Chairman of the DPC PPP Kab. Purbalingga is GP's brother-in-law, because mbakyu's wife is GP. His father-in-law is a PPP figure there", said Arsul.

Apart from Ganjar, other regions have also proposed other potential names. For example, DPW Central Sulawesi and East Java also offered names such as Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Erick Thohir, Anies Baswedan, Mahfud Md, and Sandiaga Uno.

As for the internal party, the East Java DPW brought the Acting General Chairperson, Muhamad Mardiono.
