Tasked With Traffic And Floods DKI, Jokowi Optimizing Performance Heru: The Communications Is Very Good, We Expect Acceleration

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) admitted to appointing President Heru Budi Hartono as Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta based on his track record.

Jokowi said he understood Heru's performance starting from taking positions in the DKI Provincial Government to entering the Palace environment with him.

"I've known Mr. Heru for a long time, since I was mayor in DKI, then when I held the financial body. I know very well the track record in terms of work, capacity, ability, I know everything," he said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Monday, October 10.

Jokowi also assessed that Heru was proficient in communicating. So, the head of state believes that the relationship between the DKI Provincial Government and the DKI DPRD, the central government, institutions and other elements of society can be well established.

Based on the benchmark, Jokowi assessed that the implementation of development and acceleration of the handling of problems in DKI while led by Heru from October 17, 2022, until the 2024 election was completed, could be carried out quickly.

"The communication is very good with anyone, so we hope that there will be an acceleration," said Jokowi.

On the same occasion, Jokowi admitted that he had conveyed the main task that Heru had to do after serving as Acting Governor of DKI.

Jokowi said Heru's main task was to overcome the problem of congestion and flooding in DKI. Jokowi wants the handling of these two classic problems to develop significantly.

"Yesterday I conveyed to Pak Heru, especially the main problem in DKI Jakarta. Congestion, flooding, there must be significant progress on development," he said.

Another instruction from Jokowi to Heru is related to spatial problems in DKI. "The third is related to spatial planning," Jokowi continued.

As is known, Jokowi inaugurated Heru Budi Hartono as Acting Governor of DKI based on the decision of the Final Appraisal Team (TPA) meeting which was led directly by the head of state at the Merdeka Palace, some time ago.

Before being elected, there were three names of candidates for the Acting Governor of DKI proposed by the DKI Jakarta DPRD. Apart from Heru, the names of the previously proposed Acting Governor were DKI Jakarta Provincial Secretary Marullah Matali and Director General of Polpum Kemendagri Bahtiar.
