Garbage At The Manggarai Sluice Gate Seen Mounting Since Sunday Night

JAKARTA - Piles of wood, bamboo, plastic and household waste filled the surface of the water at the Manggarai sluice gate, Jalan Tambak, Menteng District, Central Jakarta, Monday, October 10, morning. The garbage was carried away by floods throughout the Ciliwung river.

UPK Bandan Water Manggarai officers deployed heavy equipment of the excavator and truck type to transport waste disposal from the water due to being carried away by flood currents.

Head of UPK Air Manggarai Agency, Farry Andhiko, said that piles of garbage had started to get carried away by the current since Monday, October 10, in the early hours of the morning.

"Sampah started to come and pile up since around 03.00 WIB. Currently, the garbage transportation is still ongoing," he said when confirmed by VOI, Monday, October 10.

Waste transportation starts to come as the water discharge increases. The washed away waste material is dominated by wood types and household waste.

"Yu, bamboo to household waste. So far, 483 cubic meters have been occupied," he said.

Farry explained that the transportation of garbage from Manggarai floodgates today tends to increase in the previous day.

"Yes, there is an increase today. People are advised not to litter, especially in the flow of the river," he said.
