JAKARTA - The East Kalimantan Provincial Government has issued a policy of exempting Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) for online motorcycle taxi workers and city transportation (angkot) drivers in the East Kalimantan region.

This policy is given to address the impact of the increase in fuel oil prices (BBM).

The head of the East Kalimantan Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), Ismiati, emphasized that the policy was issued as a form of concern for the East Kalimantan Provincial Government to the community. At the same time easing the burden on the community in the midst of the impact of the increase in fuel prices.

"This policy is a form of government attention to ease the burden on informal sector workers, especially online motorcycle taxis," said Ismiati in Samarinda, Saturday.

He explained that one of the requirements for the exemption of PKB for ojol workers is that two-wheeled/motor vehicles must be registered on one of the online transportation applications.

This is proof that the driver who owns the motorized vehicle is an online motorcycle taxi.

"Later, we will validate and verify the data as an ojol," added Ismiati.

Likewise, public transportation vehicles or public transportation will also be validated and verified before the PKB release process.

However, Ismi emphasized that the PKB exemption program was only part of the PKB principal payment in accordance with the regional tax component.

As for other components, it is non-tax state revenue that must still be paid.

For example, when paying PKB, you have to change the plate because it's been five years. So taxpayers must still pay for the change of plate. Therefore, state revenues are not taxes from the Satlantas or the police," explained Ismi.

The exemption from PKB for ojol and angkot drivers only applies to taxes in 2022. If taxpayers have annual arrears, they are still required to pay taxes the previous year.

"If the taxpayer is three years late to pay PKB, for example. So for PKB two years ago, the principal will still pay, which will be free this year," concluded Ismiati.
