Central Java Strategy Handling Stunting Is Adopted By The West Sulawesi Provincial Government

JAKARTA - The West Sulawesi (Sulbar) Provincial Government has adopted the handling of stunting in Central Java because the stunting prevalence rate there is low, reaching 20.7 percent.

"The prevalence rate for stunting in West Sulawesi is still quite high, reaching 33 percent, or the second highest in Indonesia after East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province, while Central Java is quite low at 20.7 percent," said Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of West Sulawesi Province, Junda Maulana in Mamuju, Friday 7 October.

He said the government in West Sulawesi assessed that the Central Java government had succeeded in reducing the stunting rate, so the West Sulawesi government collaborated with the Central Java Government in efforts to deal with stunting in West Sulawesi.

"The governments of West Sulawesi and Central Java have signed a cooperation agreement in an effort to reduce stunting and will be followed by a number of stunting handling programs in West Sulawesi," he said.

According to him, with this collaboration, the government in West Sulawesi will also adopt the government's efforts in Central Java to reduce stunting.

"The West Sulawesi government continues to try to reduce the number of stunting sufferers in various ways and will adopt the Central Java government's steps to reduce stunting in its area," he said.

He conveyed that the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, would visit in the context of following up on efforts to reduce stunting in West Sulawesi.

"The West Sulawesi government has prepared itself to welcome the Governor of Central Java, Ganjar Pranowo, by holding a workshop," he said.

He conveyed that the West Sulawesi government in addition to discussing stunting reduction with the Governor of Central Java would also discuss a number of other programs that would also be collaborated.

Among them, he said, efforts to create a good government in West Sulawesi later, empowering small and medium enterprises and developing superior SMKs.

He conveyed that all regional apparatus organizations (OPD) in West Sulawesi have prepared to discuss other collaborations with the Central Java government in addition to stunting reduction in West Sulawesi.
