The COVID-19 Red Zone Area Has Doubled Up, Task Force: I'm Very Disappointed

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19, Wiku Adisasmito, expressed his disappointment at seeing the number of areas with red zones that had almost doubled.

Based on the COVID-19 risk zoning map as of November 29, there are 50 districts / cities with a red zone status or having a high risk of COVID-19. In fact, last week, there were only 28 regencies / cities with red zone status.

"I am very disappointed because this week the number of districts / cities in the red zone has almost doubled from the previous week," Wiku said in a Youtube broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday, December 1.

In addition, areas with moderate COVID-19 risk or orange zones have also increased. As of November 29, there are 374 districts / cities with the status of the orange zone. This figure increased from last week which amounted to 345 districts / cities.

Meanwhile, the number of areas with a low risk of COVID-19 or yellow zones has decreased. As of November 29, there were 75 regencies / cities with yellow zone status, out of 121 districts / cities last week.

Then, the number of areas that have not had any COVID-19 cases or have had no cases for 14 days or the green zone has also decreased. As of November 29, there were 15 regencies / cities with green zone status, out of 20 districts / cities last week.

"This situation must be a hard whip for us to continue to improve. We hope that this data can become a mirror for all of us to reflect our commitment to controlling COVID-19," said Wiku.

To the community, Wiku asked never to be ignored. Because, sooner or later everyone can become sufferers of COVID-19 if they are careless in protecting themselves or their environment or family.

"For local governments and their ranks, we hope to immediately evaluate 3M discipline and its enforcement in the regions and the implementation of 3T in various regional health systems," he concluded.
