Anies Says Jakarta Recycling Center Reduces 10 Percent Jakarta Waste To Bantargebang

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan visited the Jakarta Receycling Center (JRC) waste conscious education center in Pesanggradian District, South Jakarta. JRC development has been carried out since 2018 and is targeted for completion in December. Anies said that JRC played a role in reducing household waste by contributing 10 percent to reducing Jakarta's waste transportation to the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Disposal Site (TPST). "According to existing records, the reduction in waste so far is 10 percent. Well, this must continue. 10 percent is a good starting. We hope that this facility can be completed, which is currently being built in Pesanggrahan. Hopefully, in December it can be completed," said Anies at the location, Wednesday, October 5. With the JRC, Anies hopes that there will be an increase in community participation in waste selection, changes in mechanisms, distribution of sorted and scheduled waste, access to biodegradable waste and recycled materials. The former Minister of Education and Culture stated that JRC is able to produce a new paradigm when waste can be used as something useful. "Now we prioritize an integrated waste processing model to reduce the amount of waste entering the TPA. This model is indeed a new paradigm, because there is a role for the community to participate in starting from sorting waste. Then, there is a change in the mechanism for transporting waste that has been sorted and scheduled. Then, there is a waste recycling process," he explained. So far, there have been 13 percent of households in Jakarta who have consistently sorted waste. Anies asked that this achievement must be improved by changing waste disposal habits by sorting and transporting scheduled waste. For information, the Jakarta educational center is aware that this waste integrates waste sorting in sources, management of household B3 waste, TPS 3R, Recycle Data Center, BSF Maggot Bioconversion, and Composite.
