JAKARTA - Floods that have submerged a number of points in Jakarta since last night have largely receded. DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan claims that infiltration wells have succeeded in making puddles recede quickly.

Anies said that last night's flood hit the basin area. When heavy rains arrive, it is difficult for water to flow downstream because it is surrounded by a higher territorial boundary around the area.

So, according to him, the most appropriate flood response solution in the basin area is the placement of infiltration wells that make water seep into the ground.

"In the basin area, we need an infiltration well solution. It is proven in an area where the infiltration well has been well built, even though it has a basin, there is a high puddle of water, but the speed of receding has become very high," said Anies at Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, Wednesday, October 5.

In addition, the handling carried out by the DKI Provincial Government when the flood hit was water extraction through the pump. The pumps are also on standby at locations that have the potential for flooding before it rains.

"The DKI team sent tools ranging from fire trucks to mobile pumps to locations that fell before it rained. The dam was already in the suspected location where the puddles would experience flooding. Because these kinds of basins are the most potential ones. That's where they have to be pumped," explained Anies.

Therefore, Anies asked all parties to look at the problem of flooding on the scientific side. The classic Jakarta problem, according to Anies, cannot be seen in a political way.

"That's why it's very important for us to respect science and carry out science. Because this is the solution for us to come forward. Now this is our homework in the future, because it can be continued later," he said.

For information, the flood points in Jakarta as of 06.00 today leave 9 RTs, from the previous 81 RTs last night. Meanwhile, currently there are no more roads that are flooded, from the previous 10 roads were flooded overnight.

The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) accommodates 361 refugees in three South Jakarta locations and one in East Jakarta due to flooding.
