MAKI Asks The KPK To Immediately Check Lukas Enembe In Jakarta

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) has asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to examine Papua Governor Lukas Enembe in Jakarta, precisely at the Red and White Building. This step must be taken to prevent the assumption that the anti-corruption commission specializes in Lukas.

"(Lukas, ed) will still be brought to Jakarta. If that doesn't mean the KPK is discriminatory," MAKI Coordinator Boyamin Saiman told reporters, Tuesday, September 4.

Although lawyer Lukas asked the KPK to come to Papua to conduct an examination, Boyamin considered that the governor should have come to Jakarta.

In fact, the KPK is deemed necessary to immediately pick up Lukas before the Police withdraw his troops. According to him, the presence of members of the Bhayangkara Corps in Bumi Cendrawasih can be used to assist with security.

"KPK must take maximum advantage of this Polri assistance," he said.

Boyamin said that if the KPK took forced pick-up action for too long, the conditions in Papua would be more complicated. Not only that, members of the National Police who served there could immediately be returned to their headquarters.

Thus, the KPK's pick-up for Lukas, who is now a suspect in alleged corruption, must be carried out immediately. "It will be more difficult to worry if the Polri troops are withdrawn to their respective headquarters," said Boyamin.

As previously reported, the KPK has named Papuan Governor Lukas Enembe as a suspect in alleged corruption. The case that ensnared him has not been detailed.

Actually, Lukas was questioned on Monday, September 26 at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. However, this examination failed because he admitted to being sick and could not provide information.

Furthermore, the anti-corruption commission will again make a summons. However, it has not been revealed when it will be implemented.

Lukas was asked to cooperate in fulfilling the investigator's summons. The KPK said that his statement was urgently needed to clarify the allegations of corruption that occurred.
