JAKARTA - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) noted that 33 children died in the tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java.
"Thirty-three children died (over) eight girls and 25 boys, aged between four and 17 years," said Deputy for Special Child Protection at the Ministry of PPPA Nahar when contacted by Antara in Jakarta, Monday, October 3.
According to Nahar, this number is part of the 125 victims who died based on data released by the National Police. Meanwhile, the number of children being treated at the local hospital is still being confirmed.
"We are still completing the data," said Nahar.
His party together with the PPPA Provincial and Regency/City Office of Malang are still coordinating and trying to provide special data for children who are victims, as material for related parties to intervene in services.
The tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, took place after the match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya with a final score of 2-3, on Saturday night.
The National Police stated that the death toll in the unfortunate incident reached 125 people. The National Police is currently conducting further investigations into the incident that left hundreds of people dead.
