JABAR - Garut Police deployed 400 personnel from the Garut Police to control motorized vehicles in Operation Zebra Lodaya 2022. Mainly targeting motorized vehicles that use noisy exhausts.

"Yes, that's right ( noisy exhaust shots), security, safety, and order. Order is part of the operational target," said Garut Police Chief AKBP Wirdhanto Hadicaksono during an assembly for the 2022 Zebra Lodaya Operations troops at the Garut Police Headquarters field, quoted from Antara, Monday 3 September.

He said the 400 personnel consisted of the Traffic Unit, then other cross-sectoral officers from the TNI, and a number of local government agencies.

Operations that will last until October 16, 2022, he said, his staff will take preventive action steps.

If in the field there is a form of violation that disrupts public security and order such as noisy exhausts, it will be dealt with according to legal rules.

"Is it really disturbing the security, order and smooth running of traffic that we have taken action against law enforcement," said the Police Chief.

He conveyed that this year's operation was not only focused on urban areas, but all corners of the area, including border areas in the south of Garut.

"We will take preventive measures, I have directed all Polsek," he said.

Another target in the operation, he continued, was to educate motorists to be orderly in traffic, then overcome congestion, and suppress traffic accidents.

"So we will prioritize strategic steps sympathetically, and the hope is that the community can increase discipline and compliance in traffic," he said.

Regarding imposing an electronic ticket or e-tilang, said the Police Chief, the area cannot be applied because it is not yet equipped with supporting equipment for the program.

However, the Garut Police, he said, there are other ways to enforce fines by using an application via a smartphone that will patrol and record every motorist violation.

"Later, we will use a smartphone to record violations committed by the community, then from there we will process the fines," he said.
