JAKARTA - Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa promised to eradicate extreme poverty in East Java in order to realize President Joko Widodo's target of achieving zero extreme poverty by 2024.

"After receiving the P3KE data from President Jokowi, which is data with the name and address of the population for the intervention target of the program to accelerate the elimination of extreme poverty, I declare that East Java is ready to step on the gas," said Governor Khofifah in a written statement, Friday, September 30.

The Governor of East Java is the only regional head who received the Targeting Data for the Acceleration of Extreme Poverty Elimination (P3KE) directly from Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

P3KE data will be a reference for anyone entitled to receive social assistance from the government and get intervention so that they can advance from extreme poor status to more prosperous.

Through the use of P3KE data, it is hoped that the recipients of the assistance can be right on target, evenly distributed and not overlap.

Currently, as many as 25 regencies and cities in East Java have become areas to accelerate the handling of extreme poverty so that various welfare and empowerment programs are carried out to improve their welfare.

The East Java Provincial Government seeks to distribute aid to people who are not included in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS).

Various social protection programs have been distributed by the East Java Provincial Government to people in need, such as joint business group (Kube) assistance and socio-economically vulnerable women (WRSE) programs.

Through a productive zakat program that collaborates with the East Java National Amil Zakat Agency and regional-owned business entities, the Social Assistance Program for Persons with Disabilities (ASPD) is routinely provided.

Social assistance due to the increase in fuel oil prices (BBM) is also distributed to fishermen, online and microjek drivers, people with disabilities and micro, small and medium enterprises to prevent an increase in potential poverty by helping vulnerable economic communities.

"We continue to make various efforts, including to increase people's purchasing power through market operations at 25 points," he said as quoted by Antara.

East Java is the province with the highest national poverty reduction in the period March 2021-March 2022, which is 391,400 people.
