Considered Damage To Beauty City, Revitalization Of Transjakarta Bus Stop Development At The HI Roundabout Asked To Stop Soon

JAKARTA - The project to revitalize the Transjakarta Bus Stop at the HI Roundabout is allegedly blocking the view towards the Welcome Statue which has been designated as the suspected object of Cultural Conservation (ODCB). Now, the revitalization project has drawn criticism from various parties.

The reason is, the Welcome Statue is one of the historical objects in the city of Jakarta. The Welcome Statue is the work of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno with Governor Henk Ntik and maestro host Edhi Sunarso.

In the HI Roundabout area, the objects including the ODCB are the Welcome Statue, the fountain and the roads around it.

Transportation Policy Analyst Azas Tigor Nainggolan asked Transjakarta to immediately stop the construction of the bus stop.

"Yes, stop the construction of the giant Transjakarta bus stop," he said when confirmed by VOI, Friday, September 30.

Azas Tigor said the construction of large and high bus stops could damage the beauty of the city area.

"Sudirman-Thamrin area was built from the start by Soekarno's vision, the model of parks and statues built there," he said.

Azas Tigor assessed that Transjakarta should have built a Transjakarta integration system with mass public transportation modes such as KRL, MRT, and LRT.

"It's not the Transjakarta bus stop that is so big. What should have been built is the Transjakarta integration system with mass public transportation modes," he said.

Azas also explained the comparison of the form of bus stops abroad. According to him, abroad there are no bus stops, Transjakarta bus stops.

"Wing in Kualapampur or Singapore, even in Europe, the BRT bus stop is simple but comfortable. Stops are enough - it's enough that users are safe, comfortable and access (the most important)," he explained.

Previously, the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta reminded PT Transjakarta to pay attention to the cultural heritage area when carrying out infrastructure development, especially in revitalizing the bus stop that is currently being worked on.

This refers to the revitalization of the HI Roundabout Bus Stop which apparently violates cultural heritage conservation procedures. This bus stop design covered the view towards the Welcome Statue which was designated as the suspected object of cultural heritage (ODCB).

"All development processes in Jakarta should go through a process, according to existing rules and regulations, including paying attention to cultural heritage," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, September 30.

Riza views that actually the revitalization of the bus stop is needed in order to accommodate the number of passengers who are now increasing. Given, over the past month, Transjakarta customers have increased by 10 percent.
