JAKARTA - South Korea alerted its military, as North Korea fired another short-range ballistic missile on Thursday.

The most recent ballistic missile launch was the third within a week, after yesterday fired two ballistic missiles and one other missile on Sunday.

"South Korean military detected two short-range ballistic missiles fired from Sunchon, South Pyongan Province, heading east between 20:48 and 20:57. Amid strengthened surveillance and vigilance, our military maintained full readiness while working with the US," the Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

Meanwhile, Japan's Ministry of Defense said projectiles were likely landing outside Japan's exclusive economic zone, and there were no reports of damage involving aircraft or ships, Japanese government officials said, according to Kyodo Times.

Hours earlier, US Vice President Kamala Harris ended a visit to South Korea, where she met with President Yoon Suk-yeol and visited the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) which divided Korea into two.

During the visit, Vice President Harris reaffirmed America's security commitment to its Eastern Asian allies, citing the Korea Times.

There are no details regarding the range, the altitude to the speed of the ballistic missile this time was shot by Pyongyang.
